Australian baobab tree, Kimberley region, Western Australia
There is a whole lot mythology surrounding the Australian baobab tree, known for its huge, swollen trunk. Commonly referred to as a boab in Australia, the species also grows in Arabia and Africa. Other names for it right here in Australia are bottle tree, the wrong way up tree, and gouty stem tree. All seem appropriate to us. Some indigenous communities depended on the bushes for water (saved in its massive trunk), food, and medicine. Ancient baobabs had been loved as liked people.
